Rain didn’t stop this beautiful family from having one of the most memorable sessions of the season! The Boeck Family braved a rainy, on-and-off fall day at Paradise Springs in Eagle, Wisconsin, and we captured so many tender, playful, and joyful moments. With 18-month-old son, a mom-to-be glowing with anticipation, and the excitement of a baby girl arriving any day, this session was full of love, connection, and cozy family fun.

A Rainy Day Turned Magical

Even with a little rain, the fall foliage at Paradise Springs was stunning — vibrant golds, oranges, and deep reds framed the family perfectly. The old stone spring house from the 1930s, the serene spring pond, and a small waterfall gave us so many unique backdrops to capture natural, timeless images.

Their son was full of energy and curiosity, exploring leaves, pointing at the water, and giving us endless sweet toddler expressions. Mom and Dad were completely in love — not just with their little boy, but also with the anticipation of welcoming their baby girl soon.

Matching “Bear” Sweatshirts — A Fun Touch

One of my favorite parts of this session was their special matching sweatshirts. The parents were excited to include them for a few playful and cozy shots, which added personality and humor to the gallery. These images felt extra personal and memorable, creating a story that will be cherished for years.

What We Captured

Even with the rainy weather, we captured:

  • Sweet, intimate family moments with their toddler

  • Glowing maternity portraits with mom-to-be

  • Playful interactions and laughter with “bear” sweatshirts

  • Candid connection between Mom and Dad

  • Gorgeous environmental portraits featuring fall foliage, pond, waterfall, and historic stone spring house

It’s always amazing to see how nature and family personalities combine to create timeless images. The rain actually added a soft, moody glow that made the colors of fall pop even more beautifully.

Why Family Sessions Are Perfect for Expecting Families

Mini or full family sessions during pregnancy are ideal for capturing this fleeting season of life. Between toddlers’ short attention spans and the anticipation of a new baby, shorter, well-planned sessions often yield the most natural, joyful photos.

Even on a rainy day, a relaxed approach, some movement, and personal touches (like their “bear” sweatshirts) let families feel comfortable and in-the-moment, creating authentic memories that truly tell their story.

Tips for Families Booking a Rainy Fall Session

  • Embrace the weather: Light drizzle can add a soft, romantic glow to photos.

  • Plan outfits in layers: Sweaters, jackets, and fun personal touches make photos pop.

  • Include props or themed clothing: Like these “bear” sweatshirts — personal items tell a story.

  • Choose locations with multiple backdrops: Paradise Springs offered water, foliage, and historic architecture.

  • Let kids explore: Playful moments with toddlers are always the most memorable.
